Note: Writer Ben Raab made several continuity mistakes regarding the Soulsword’s origin and the Magik limited series. The evil Nightcrawler counterpart being alive is just the tip of the iceberg. A possibly explanation isn this case though could be that it’s just another Nightcrawler who Belasco forced into his service.
