- Shatterstar joins X-Factor. [X-Factor (1st series) #200]
- Selene attempts to ascend to godhood and by using a mystically enhanced version of the Techno-Organic Virus, she resurrects many deceased mutants, pitting the mutant heroes against their deceased loved ones. The combined efforts of the X-Men defeat Selene, and most of the deceased mutants pass away once again. [Necrosha Crossover]
- A squad of X-Men returns to Muir Isle to battle Proteus. There, Rogue encounters the resurrected Destiny. [X-Men Legacy (1st series) #231-233]
- Diamond Lil arrives on Utopia, eventually reconciles with her estranged husband Madison Jeffries, but moments later is slain during the invasion of Utopia. [Nation X #3, X-Force (3rd series) #23]
- The New Mutants squad deal with the unexpected returns of Warlock, Cypher and their longtime rivals, the Hellions. Cypher remain alive following Selene's defeat, and together with Warlock re-joins the New Mutants. [New Mutants (3rd series) #6-8]
- Psylocke returns to Japan and kills Matsu'o. [Psylocke #1-4]

- Mortis's hatred of her sister Dazzler continued, and attempted to have Dazzler killed. Her plan failed and Mortis was left comatose. [Dazzler one-shot]
- Cable returns from the future with Hope, leading to Bastion to rally anti-mutant allies Trask, Lang, Hodge, Pierce, Stryker and Creed, and devise a plan to destroy the mutant messiah and all mutants once and for all. [Second Coming crossover]
