When Hope Summers, the mutant messiah, returned from the future, her presence apparently triggered the rebirth of the mutant gene in humanity. For the first time since M-Day, Cerebra lit up with five new mutant signals across the globe. These new mutants became known unofficially as The Five Lights. Recruited by the X-Men, they joined with Hope as a rapid response team to locate new "Lights" as they manifested. Rogue and later Shadowcat initially served as Cyclops's liaison to the group, but now they appear to operate without supervision by a senior X-Man.
