The original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants were gathered by Magneto in order to make a public stand against humanity in the name of mutantkind. After their initial period of activity from X-Men (1st series) #4-11, they reformed several times until Magneto and his team were all reduced to infancy by Alpha the Ultimate Mutant for several years in Defenders (1st series) #15-16. Revived behind the scenes by Eric the Red in X-Men (1st series) #104, Magneto's lackeys briefly stayed together in Champions #17, but the original Brotherhood membership did not reunite after that.
