Storm travels into the Morlock tunnels on the anniversary of the Mutant Massacre to pay respects to the Morlocks who died. She realizes that someone else is already down there, and it turns out to be Gambit, also paying his respects with hundreds of lighted candles. She is surprised, as she doesn’t yet know of Gambit’s role in the Massacre (see Uncanny X-Men 350). Storm reveals that she feels responsible for the Massacre, as she was the leader of the Morlocks at the time.
Meanwhile at the CBNC studios, Trish Tilby interviews Graydon Creed. “Drake Roberts” (Iceman) encourages Creed in the sidelines in his undercover role. Tilby gives a tough interview, and part-way through a man stands up in the audience and shouts out against Creed’s anti-mutant agenda. Iceman recognizes the man as his father, who until now had been a racist and a mutant-hater, but had a change of heart when confronted with Graydon Creed’s arguements. As William Drake is removed from the studio, Iceman smiles proudly in secrecy.
At the X-mansion, Joseph wakes up Rogue to tell her he may have found a way to allow her to touch others without draining their powers and memories. She kicks him out so she can get dressed. Outside, Bishop and Wolverine are having a talk when Gambit walks by and notices Joseph hovering outside Rogue’s window. Gambit attacks Joseph out of jealousy and they have a brief battle. Rogue breaks it up and makes it clear she is not
impressed by either of them for their behavior, and flies off.
That night, J. Jonah Jameson is at home trying to put together his story on Graydon Creed’s past, while outside Havok makes an appearance. He spies on Jameson and thinks that if he gathers too much knowledge he will end up dead.
