The threat she was referring to was Llan the Sorceror. When he was resurrected, he brought Talisman, Vindicator, Sasquatch, Shaman, Box and Diamond Lil together, and transported them to an alternate world. By attacking her teammates, he tricked Talisman into releasing her mystic energies at him, which allowed him to battle her, as he was not allowed to attack her first. He belittled Elizabeth for her lack of experience before teleporting away, leaving Alpha Flight stranded in the non zone between dimensions.
Through the Crossroads of realities, Talisman and Alpha Flight made their way across various worlds in order to find their own, fighting menaces as they went. Seemingly trapped on one world where they were forced to battle doppelgangers of heroes from their own world, Alpha Flight were reunited with Puck, who had been residing in this reality after his confrontation with the Dream Queen sometime earlier. Now knowing where exactly they were and, after defeating the Queen’s minions in a long battle, Talisman managed to open a gateway back to Earth and Alpha Flight could return home. Back on Earth, Alpha Flight learned that they had been gone for three months and that, during that time, they have been replaced by a new government team called Gamma Flight. This complicated their search for Llan, as with a new official hero team, Alpha Flight was ordered to disband by the government. However, this didn’t stop Heather and Elizabeth from viewing possible new headquarters and Talisman told her friend they needed to move in as soon as possible, revealing that she had foretold many months ago that it would be their new base. The two got into an argument about who was leader of the team, but Elizabeth told Heather that she had no intention of being leader or even a member, and was just doing what she needed to do to prepare for the war with Llan. The building was set over an intense well of Earth magic and she would need this power against him. [Alpha Flight (1st series) #76, 78]
As the rest of Alpha Flight battled several invading villains from the United States, again under the spell of the evil sorcerer, Talisman spent most of her time locked away in a room and began summoning former members and associates of the team, including Northstar and Aurora, as she knew the team would need more manpower. In order to prepare herself for the upcoming fight, Talisman took a spiritual journey 10,000 years into the past, where she watched a previous wearer of the Talisman, Nahita, encounter and subsequently defeat Llan the Sorcerer. On the way back, she even faced Llan briefly and realized that all her efforts to this point had only served his cause. Talisman decided that she had to face the villain all by herself and she departed from Alpha Flight’s headquarters, leaving them to face Gamma Flight, who had come to force their disbanding, on their own. By the time she reached the Eye of the World, the spot where Llan had begun opening the Gateway of Night, she realized that she was too late and sent a psychic message to Alpha Flight. While Alpha Flight and Gamma Flight tried their best to stop the invading hordes of demons and other creatures, Talisman knew that their only hope was for her to open the Gateway of Day, thus unleashing the armies of the shining realms; Earth would have been turned into a giant battlefield, but at least have a chance at survival. As she approached the mountain the Gateway was hidden in, Llan animated the rock and captured her with giant hands of stone. Talisman sent a psychic message to Northstar and Aurora, asking them to get Dr. Strange. Within seconds, the speedsters made it to the magician’s home, and the sorcerer journeyed through the Crossroads to the inner side of the Gateway. Working on it from both sides, Talisman and Dr. Strange managed to finally open it and the forces of darkness were banished. Llan was defeated, but not before swearing revenge. Searching for their missing teammate, Puck, who had been abducted from a hospital, Talisman and a few other Alphans discovered that the Master of the World had returned and was using him as a cloning matrix for his Remnant Men, a number of warrior creatures. Puck himself had been deformed during the process, several earlier changes made to his body interacting in an unpredicted way. Thanks to the bio-chemical skills of Sasquatch, Puck was easily restored, but the heroes were overwhelmed by the Remnant Men, whom they could not fight without hurting the humans they had been before the Master’s tampering. Time was of the essence, so Talisman ordered her father, Shaman, to hand her his pouch. She placed it on her head, using her mind as a filter for the millions of different spells inside, searching for the single one needed to transform their opponent back to their original state. She succeeded in finding it and restoring them, though not without suffering severe neurological damages. [Alpha Flight (1st series) #87-90]
Elizabeth had to re-learn how to eat and walk and, while she was slowly but surely recovering, Alpha Flight was reorganized. Still recuperating, Talisman was placed in the new training team Beta Flight and also assigned to the short-lived Gamma Support Staff of Department H, serving in the archeological and super natural science sections.
